THE NEED: Recent research done by NC Baptist revealed that 9 of the 10 most unreached areas in North Carolina are within the 485 loop. Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina with a population of over 850,000. It is currently one of the top 10 fastest growing cities in the US, growing by 150 people per day. It is estimated that 100 different languages are spoken within the city limits because of the increase of international businesses and the universities.
TARGET LOCATION: University City - the northeast area of Charlotte between UNCC (29,000 students;1900 International students) and 485 is one of these areas. There are over 45,000 people (African American 42%; Caucasian 40%; Asian 10%; Latino 6%; Other 2%) with 90% non-evangelical.
Chad and Christy have been married since 2008 and have three sons: Grayson, Bowen, and Miller. They met during high school at their local church in Durham, NC and have lived in Durham, NC, India, and Clemson, SC. Christy is a stay-at-home mom and disciple-maker. In 2013, Chad began serving at Crosspoint Church in Clemson, SC as a Generation Link Pastoral Resident and transitioned to Director of Missions in 2014. Chad has earned a B.S. in Communication from Appalachian State University and an M.Div. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest. Chad and Christy have a great desire to see disciples made and the nations reached.
Jonathan and Ashlyn met while serving as missionaries in India and have been married since 2007. They have three children: Grace, Adalai, and Isaiah. Jonathan, who comes from a Samoan family, moved to South Carolina from California in 2015. He joined the pastoral residency with Generation LINK at Crosspoint Church in 2017 aspiring to be a church planter. Jonathan has bachelor's degrees in both Children’s Ministry and Christian Ministry, along with a Master of Divinity from Western Seminary. He also served our nation from 2001-2005 with the USAF. Ashlyn is a disciple-maker serving in the community, and both she and Jonathan are passionate about lives being transformed by the Gospel.
Heath and Crystal have been married since 2017. They met through Crosspoint Church in Clemson, SC and have lived there for two years. Crystal currently works as a health educator in Student Health Services at Clemson University and is actively involved in ministry through Crosspoint Church. Heath has worked at Crosspoint since 2017 as a Generation LINK resident. He primarily serves with international and college student ministry. He holds a B.S. from Clemson University in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management and will complete an M.Div. in Christian Theology from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2020. Heath and Crystal have a desire to see disciples of Jesus Christ made to the ends of the earth.
